Founded in 1976, the Friends of the Commission on the Status of Women organizes events in the community to raise public awareness and funding for work of the San Francisco Commission and Department on the Status of Women. Our three focus areas are stopping violence against women, eliminating human trafficking and promoting gender equality.

Helps us to implement Friends initiatives and programs not funded by the City of San Francisco.

Join us and pledge your support and commitment to Inspiring an Equal Future: To lead change so women and girls have equal opportunity and are free from violence.

International Women's Day - Share your event planning skills or ideas and help us host a city-wide celebration.  With women and men joining forces each of us can lead in our own way, and take bold action to accelerate gender parity.  If you are interested, please email Verna Liza Caba at

CEDAW Women's Human Rights Awards - We are in the early stages of preparing for our annual fundraising event. Awards are given for leadership demonstrated in multiple sectors of the community, including education, entrepreneurship, government, health, labor, media and philanthropy which represent the CEDAW (UN Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women) principles. We are looking for volunteers experienced in fundraising, marketing, and public relations. If you are interested, please email us at
